Unit 1

Unit 1 Upon entering the web design class, I have learned a lot of different things in this course. This course offers a vast variety of different techniques for mixing coding and art together. Websites are all different and all have different uses and designs, but not all websites show that with their design. Websites can give off the wrong impression based on the colors they use, depending on the website's use. I’ve learned what makes a website bad, what makes them good, and what makes them downright atrocious. Colors play a huge role when it comes to web design, given the fact that certain websites can’t pull off a black and white look. I learned about hexadecimals, and how other people interpret colors whenever we did the share out assignment when we made a false website for a client. While hexadecimals are still hard, I could only imagine how hard it would be to use a website if I were colorblind or disabled. It’s important to make sure that you make all websites accessible for everyone, even with disabilities. Certain colors that don't mesh, buttons being too close together, small words, flashing backgrounds, all of these could be a liability. The class also gives an amazing chance to meet people and or get to know each other closer in the organization unit. We had to partner up with someone and cut and glue different website factors onto paper, basically planning one out with a partner. It was helpful to see how many people thought of websites differently. Unit 1 has taught a lot to me.
